Things have been super busy over here lately and I haven’t been able to even come close to keeping up with the travel posts here. Im going to try to at least get the big trips posted soon. This post is going to be part 1 of 3 for our trip to Prague. I took a ton of pictures there and didn’t want to cram it all into one post. I actually took all the pictures with my iphone as well. I didn’t want to lug Continue reading “Prague 1 – Intro to Goulash Country”
Ricotta Cheese Farm
We decided to make some cheese…haha.  There was an outing to a local cheese farm that has some of the best Ricotta in Sicily. Part of the deal was that we were able to watch and get involved with the whole process, which was pretty cool.
Agrigento Sicily – Valley of the Temples
Agrigento is a place that every visitor of Sicily should try to make. Especially if you are into archeological things. Agrigento is well known for its well preserved Greek temples that date back to 580 B.C. !! Now I understand why they call America the New World.  Wikipedia has a page about Agrigento that has a lot of information (LINK).
We stayed the weekend in Agrigento to make sure that we got all the sights in. Plus its about a 2 hour drive from where we are on the island. I was excited because one of the few surf stores was supposed to be in Agrigento, but after searching Continue reading “Agrigento Sicily – Valley of the Temples”
Tindari and the Black Madonna
Back in early April, Jess and I wanted to go for a road trip. We hadn’t been up the Northern coastline yet and Mario told us of a place called Tindari. Its located on the Northeastern coastline of Sicily and has a ton of history. The story behind Continue reading “Tindari and the Black Madonna”
Ragusa, Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Scicli, and Marina di Ragusa
For our 3rd Anniversary we decided to put together a little trip to Southeastern Sicily. We stayed at a great place in Marina di Ragusa called La Moresca and explored all around the area. With our anniversary being in October we found all the towns to be quiet with all the tourists long gone! This made for easy travel between the towns and we were able to see a lot of things over the Continue reading “Ragusa, Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Scicli, and Marina di Ragusa”
Zafferana Sicily
During the month of October, Sicily has it’s own version of Oktoberfest in the town of Zafferana. Zafferana is a cool town that is located on the East side of Sicily on the slopes of Mount Etna. Every Sunday during October they have a celebration with many vendors of all types and a biergarten of sorts. A lot of food to choose from including Continue reading “Zafferana Sicily”
Thanksgiving in Munich Germany
Germany! I grew up going to a town in Michigan called Frankenmuth and it was Michigans version of little Germany. Every time that we went it was a big adventure usually with a bunch of the family. I always had a great time with the different food that was delicious and the vibe of the town with an old fashioned arcade and huge cuckoo clock in the middle of town. These memories got me really excited about going to the real Germany especially since we were going on the Continue reading “Thanksgiving in Munich Germany”
Dublin
Ready for another trip off the island…. this time to another island!  We found some great flights that were direct from Catania, Sicily to Dublin. Dublin was one of our top places that we wanted to see while we were out here and it didn’t disappoint.
It was noticeably colder when we got off the plane in Dublin. Jess and I huddled together like freezing Chihuahuas at the airport while we Continue reading “Dublin”
Zu Maru and Aci Castello
Staying local we went to a casual seafood place near us called Zu Maru. We pass this place everyday on our way to work and it always seemed like a popular place. They also have a fresh seafood market next door that looks really good. Definitely a great little spot.
We went to Aci Castello afterwards, which is the town closest to our house. Its a very cool place with Continue reading “Zu Maru and Aci Castello”
